How do you #CaptureConfidence? This Insta campaign is all the feels
Have you ever felt down about yourself? Or maybe spent time overthinking your flaws? You shouldn't—but you're not alone. Many girls face self-doubt and insecurities—and that's why Instagram has announced a new campaign called #CaptureConfidence that promotes self-confidence by encouraging girls to express all the things they love about themselves.
The #girlpower-fueled campaign is aimed at helping young girls see and show how awesome and beautiful they are, and was created in partnership with the authors of The Confidence Code For Girls (out April 3) by Katty Kay, Claire Shipman and JillEllyn Riley.
If you choose to get involved, you'll be setting an amazing example for yourself *and* your friends on social media. Plus, you could end up getting featured on TV just for showcasing how great you are! That's right: On Wednesday, April 4, Good Morning America will select images from the #CaptureConfidence hashtag to display live on-air during the popular morning program.
Not sure what to post or how to show off your confidence? Check out the five awesome young women below for major #inspo. Then, post your own photo to Instagram and use the hashtag #CaptureConfidence for your chance to appear on GMA. (Just remember: Your account must be public for the photo to be featured in the hashtag feed.) We can't wait to see your submissions!
—Lexi, aka @curlanistas—
At just 13-years-old, Lexi has written not one but *two* children's books—Curly Girls, Love Your Curls and The Ice Cream Talk: Love the Skin You're In!—to inspire young girls to grow their self-esteem and, of course, confidence. She hearts her naturally curly hair (uhm, we're obsessed with the space buns she's rocking!) and founded an organization, Curlanistas, to help other girls do the same.
—Olivia, aka @olivia—
Another young self-starter, this 18-year-old created Stitched by Liv, a custom crochet wear company. But that's not all: She's also the DC Ambassador for Girl Power Meetups, an organization that gives young women a safe space to be creative and lift each other up.
—Lizzie, aka @lizzy.dances—
Lizzie, 16, is using her Instagram to change stereotypes surrounding dancers' bodies. Her commitment to dance and her mission can be seen all over her account—as can her seriously amazing leaps. This girl is *talented!*
—Ellie, aka @elliewheels—
Ellie, 17, uses her Instagram to shine a light on the fight for LGBTQ rights and other important issues such as women's rights, gun control and disability rights. And she doesn't take her platform and ability to influence others for granted, either: "I feel like the luckiest person because I get to do what I love with the most amazing people and we might just change the world?" YES, Ellie—you definitely will!
—Arielle, aka @ariellemartinezcohen—
Arielle uses her Instagram to showcase her music and fight against injustice at the same time. One listen to her sound and you'll have chills—especially when you hear her track, "Why?," which the 16-year-old singer-songwriter penned for the victims of the Parkland shooting and performed at the Los Angeles March For Our Lives.
Confidence looks different on everyone. You may find it when you're speaking up for what you believe in, doing what you love or just hanging out with friends who let you be you. Show us what confidence looks like for *you* using the hashtag #CaptureConfidence for a chance to have your photo featured on GMA on Wednesday, April 4. What are you waiting for? Get posting, babe!
