LIFE
Dear Carol
"Dear Carol, how can I find time to spend with my dad?"
Dear Carol,
The only time I spend with my dad is on the weekends, but that's the only time I get to spend with friends! I can't handle not being able to see my BFFs.
–Timeless
Dear Timeless,
With a little planning, you can find time for friends, homework, downtime and your dad. Don't say, "Dad, I don't want to waste my whole weekend on you!" Try, "Dad, my friends want to get together Saturday evening, so would it be OK if you and I plan a fun lunch on Saturday or Sunday?" Or plan to play mini-golf, go to a movie, cook or watch the game with him. Your dad may have things to do, too, so be clear about when you can spend time together so he won't mind the time apart.
