Dear Carol
"Dear Carol, my friends judge me for eating healthy"
Dear Carol,
Over the summer, I started eating healthy food and cut out junk food and soda. I feel great, but at school people always ask why I'm not eating this or that. Even at my family functions, everyone takes it the wrong way—as if I don't like their cooking or am trying to show off. I'm not!
—Hard To Be Healthy
Dear Hard To Be Healthy,
It's wonderful that you're treating your body better by being aware of what you put into it. Good for you! If people give you a hard time, just say, "I'm trying to have better eating habits," then change the subject. Since you aren't out to make others feel bad about what they're eating, don't let them make you feel bad about what you're eating. You did yourself a huge favor by becoming mindful about your choices, and maybe you'll be a role model for classmates and cousins.
