Dear Carol

"Dear Carol, do you think my mom is jealous?"

Dear Carol,
I think my mom's jealous of my mentor. Because I have a scholarship, I have to have one, and I chose my fave teacher. At first, my mom didn't mind, but now the mere mention of my mentor's name makes my mom agitated. My mentor and I are really close. She's like my second mother, and I tell her everything. My mom and I never had a close relationship. When I told my mom how much I talk to my mentor, she got in a really bad mood and started yelling at me. Also, my mentor bought me a dress I'd been begging my mom to buy for me. So now I'm stuck between two amazing, strong women. I love both of them, but I'm really confused.
–Is My Mom Jealous?

Dear Is My Mom Jealous?,
I'd say there's no need to gush to your mom about how awesome your mentor is. Of course that hurts a bit. But if you stay sensitive, you're lucky that you have two strong role models who care about you in their own different ways. Good luck with that scholarship.
