Dear Carol

"Dear Carol, I like summer, but I don't like the way I look in a bathing suit. Help!"

Dear Carol,
I like summer, but I don't like the way I look in a bathing suit. Help!
—Bikini Blues

Dear Bikini Blues,
Join the club. Most of us have at one time or another picked a fight with our bodies. But it's time to make peace. You have two goals. The first is to accept the body you have. Don't waste time wishing you were taller or shorter, that your breasts were bigger or smaller, that you were slimmer or had more curves—that's brain drain. The second is take care of that body. If your idea of exercise is walking to the freezer to down a pint of ice cream, then it's time to make changes. Work out more and don't go overboard with foods that offer way more calories than nutrition. This summer make a goal to start feeling good about who you are and how you look.
