3 new ways to rock the half-up top knot trend

Summer is all about relaxing and having fun so it's no wonder the half-up top knot has become one of the biggest hair trends of the season. This easy do has been spotted on your favorite celebs from Shay Mitchell to Gigi Hadid. We've got a few new ways for you to try it out for yourself:

For beachy summer days on the boardwalk, add some extra texture to your top knot.

1. When you first make the half-ponytail, braid the section of hair before twisting it into the knot.

2. Loosen it up a bit with your fingers for a carefree look.

Spending the day running errands? Go for the sporty look with this half-up double dutch combo.

1. Make a part down the center of your hairline working towards the crown.

2. Create another part further down on the left and clip back the hair below it.

3. Start dutch braiding the left section of hair by separating the piece into three parts and gathering more of the hair as you go. Continue back towards the crown and hold with bobby pins.

4. Repeat the last two steps for the right side of your head.

5. Take the section of hair at the end of the braids and twist into a bun and secure. Shape with fingers and bobby pins until you get the shape you want.

Get ready for dinner out with the fam with a more polished take on this trend.

1. Use some dry wash at the roots to add texture if your hair is slippery.

2. Separate the top portion and brush it until the top is smooth.

3. Tightly twist the top into a small donut shaped bun and secure.
