3 Natural hair tutorials that never get old

Okay, so about a week ago, GLgirl @Mockingjay_twylight116, commented on our straight hair inspo post saying that she wants to see more hairstyles for black hair. As a black woman I remember having the same problem growing up. Magazines and websites were always doing super cute tutorials for girls with thin, straight hair, but I thought, “wait, what about me?!” Well, @Mockingjay_twylight116, this one’s for you, girl! Check out 3 of my fave natural hair YouTube tutorials and definitely expect more articles like this from GL in the near future.

Two-Strand Twist Out

What: First thing's first, what’s a twist out? Well, you know how your hair gets that cute wavy look after you’ve just taken out braids? It’s just like that except you twist your hair instead of braiding.

Who: Samirah Gilli’s hair is always laid! This vlogger uses the chunky flat twist out method to get curls that look curling wand-worthy… the best part? This style is completely heat-free (bye-bye, damage)! Click to see the vid HERE, and see how Samirah gets crazy definition in her strawberry blonde strands.

Bantu Knot

What: This hairstyle is passed all the way down from the Motherland. African women discovered that they could twist their hair up into a bunch of tiny little rolls and create a chic wave pattern once they’re taken down.

Who: My Natural Sisters is a blog run by a trio of sibs who all share a passion for everything natural hair related. This vid showcases how India gets flawless, frizz-free curls with her Bantu knot, done on blow-dried hair.

Wash ‘n’ Go

What: You guessed it—a wash ‘n’ go basically means washing your hair and jetting out the door. Yes, there are a few steps in between, but I promise they’re not that hard.

Who: I have super thick hair, so it always annoyed me when natural girls with more manageable textures (similar to that of biracial hair) try to give me hair pointers. I love Naptural85 because in this vid she’s shows the world that girls can rock thick hair and look FIERCE! She’s proof that “nappy” is not a bad word.
