Eat Right

Do this one thing to be healthier in a week

We’ve all seen meal prepping vlogs on YouTube and it totally makes sense to do them if you’ve got a busy school schedule. It's supposed to be the new best way to eat healthy and work on portion control...but is it worth all of the work?

There are so many positives to designating a day to do all your cooking for the week (we recommend Sunday, obvs!). It’s an awesome way to make sure you're getting a good balance of nutrients. Sometimes we eat too much of one thing and not the other, but with meal prepping you can always use the same basic outline: a veggie, a carb and a protein.

Another benefit is that it's a great excuse to buy your food in bulk which is cheaper than buying smaller portions. If your parents have a Costco or Sam's Club membership, ask them to snag large amounts of fresh fruits, veggies, meats and grains. All of these can be put into the freezer and used for another day if you don’t use it all up at once.

Prepping food doesn’t have to just be chicken, broccoli and brown rice all day, every day, either. If you easily get bored of the same old thing, the recipe ideas are endless. Look around on Pinterest to mix and match to make your own perfect meal.

So this school year, if you’re struggling to make healthy choices or if you're always running late and never have time to pack lunch in the morning, try prepping! It's not as intimidating as it seems (it's actually super easy) and trust us, your body will thank you.
