Now that October is *finally* here, it's offically spooky szn! There are so many things about Halloween that make it the best holiday—and one of them is movies. Disney has made some of the best festive flicks, filled with all the fall nostalgia we need this year. Not sure where to start? Here are our top 5 picks to add to your watchlist.
Twitches
Twitches is the perfect Halloween movie series to watch back-to-back. It tells the story of two twin princesses who are separated at birth and grow up in the real world with two different families. The girls meet and begin to recognize their joint powers—just as an evil force threatens their kingdom. The themes of sisterhood and magic make this a great sleepover movie.
Halloweentown
Halloweentown is an adorable family film that's *perfect* for a cozy movie night. Halloweentown is the first movie out of four, each following the Cromwell family on their wild Halloween adventures. The story starts when 13-year-old Marnie and her siblings' discovery that their grandmother is actually a witch. They follow her to Halloweentown—only to discover that there is an evil force hurting people in the village. With their grandmother's help, the Cromwell kids discover their powers and work together to save the town. This movie is perfect to watch with the fam and will def leave you wanting more.
Frankenweenie
If animation is more your style, Frankenweenie is the Halloween movie for you. This film follows Victor and his dog, Sparky, as Victor raises animals from the dead. As more people begin to discover Victor's secret, chaos erupts in his town. This movie will pull on your heartstrings *and* put you in the spooky spirit.
Hocus Pocus
Hocus Pocus is a Halloween classic that totally lives up to the hype. It tells the story of Max, the new kid in town, who's trying to win over the cutest girl at his school. After summoning three witches while trying to impress his crush, Max is left to save the town, teaming up with his little sister Dani and his crush Allison. Can they stop the witches from taking children's souls? Packed with 90's nostagia and a strong female witch trio, Hocus Pocus is the perfect Halloween movie.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Nightmare Before Christmas is another animated Disney classic. A fabulously festive fit for both Halloween *and* Christmas, Tim Burton creates a magical movie perfect for a sing-a-long sleepover. This flick starts after Halloween, as Jack Skellington tries to find meaning to life outside of the spooky holiday. The movie is filled with wonder, hope and many catchy songs that are perfect for Halloween.
