Everything you need to know about 2023 movie releases
2023 isn't too far away (ahhh!). A new year comes with so many exciting things to look forward to —most importantly, the movie releases. Whether you are a total Marvel stan or have watched every Disney Princess movie (twice), 2023 will not disappoint. Keep reading for all the deets on four of the most exciting films coming out next year.
The Little Mermaid
Raise your hand if you have been waiting for The Little Mermaid to finally get a live-action version—we see you, girl! This remake is sure to be just as good, if not better, than the original. The cast includes superstars Halle Bailey (five-time Grammy-nominated singer), Awkwafina (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and Jacob Tremblay (Wonder). The songs are reported to be both OG classics and also some original scores written by none other than Broadway genius Lin-Manuel Miranda. All in all, it's gearing up to be a film you will not want to miss—so make sure to mark those calendars for May 26.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Finally, Marvel's Ant-Man series is getting its third installment! Set to hit theaters on Feb. 17, Quantumania is sure to be a fan fave. Leading actors Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Evangeline Lilly (Wasp) and Michael Douglas (Hank Pym) are all coming back to the cast, so you know it's going to be iconic. What are you waiting for? Break out some popcorn and brush up on your Marvel knowledge by re-watching the first two movies.
Barbie
It's safe to say that we are currently *obsessed* with all things Barbie. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are starring as our forever OTP, Barbie and Ken, and Will Ferrell (Elf) and America Ferrera (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) are also dressing up alongside our fave couple. The director of this movie is total girl boss Greta Gerwig (Little Women), so we know it's going to be an absolute moment. Barbie will premiere on July 21 and we will definitely be front row—wearing all pink, obvi.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
The cast details have finally been released for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which is a prequel to the dystopian series: The Hunger Games, ofc. We literally could not be more hyped for this lineup! Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) and Tom Blyth will be playing the leads and the rest of the cast is full of fellow superstars. Set to release on Nov. 17, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is def on our must-watch list.
