Must List

Maximum Ride is your new fave fantasy flick

Fans of Divergent, The Hunger Games and Harry Potter, listen up. We've got a new sci-fi fantasy movie for you to sink your teeth into: Maximum Ride.

This action- and adventure-packed movie is based on the book series by best-selling author James Patterson, a staple in literature today. The star of the film, Allie Evans, is less well known, but a staple on her platform of choice: YouTube. Allie portrays Max, the leader of a group of orphans who spent their upbringing in a lab, and become part avian (yep, avian as in bird) as a result.

Max's crew is made up of Fang (Patrick Johnson), Angel (Lyliana Wray) and Gazzy (Gavin Lewis). Together, they must deal with typical struggles that come with being kids and teenagers while also trying to defend themselves against the vicious human-wolf creatures, "Erasers," as they race to save the youngest member of their flock.

Though Allie is *super* used to hamming it up in front of the camera for her YouTube videos, this was her first flick ever. Luckily, she had a pretty fab cast to act alongside. She says that she bonded fantastically with Lyliana and Gavin, but she and Patrick became particularly tight.

"Patrick was the one person who was right by my side through the whole thing," Allie spilled. "I think by the end, we found a really great balance of pushing each other as actors and supporting one another through the craziness that is shooting a film."

Allie also had the opportunity to work with another member of the YouTube family, Jenna Marbles, who executive produced the film. Funnily enough, Allie says that fam is what the film is really all about.

"Ultimately, it’s a story about family and how you will do anything to protect those you love."

Maximum Ride is now available on Digital HD and will hit theaters and On Demand on Sept. 30.

Are you a fan of Allie Evans? How do you think Maximum Ride will stack up to other comparable book-based action adventure fantasies?
