More diverse emojis are finally in our future

We use emojis all the time when we're texting, but sometimes there just aren't enough options. However, the emojis we all know and love are about to get a bit of an upgrade. Apple users will now have the option of faces and people with 6 different skin tones representing a variety of races. It's about time, but better late than never, right?

According to TechCrunch, Apple has been testing the newest beta version of iOS 8 which includes this awesome upgrade of emoji characters we’ve all been waiting for. Even more exciting? Different skin tones aren’t the only fresh choices users will get to play around with.

Aside from being more racially diverse, other new emojis will include a larger variety of flags, representations of different family types and even fun gadgets like the iPhone 6 and the Apple Watch.

One thing we can’t help but notice is a lack of a bigger selection of food emojis. Rumors have been flying for months about the additions of potential adorable food emojis, but according to an article by E! Online, that's one step Apple hasn’t quite taken. We still have hope, though, and we'll keep patiently waiting for that precious taco emoji. We're not ready to give up just yet.

The new-and-improved emojis are reported to hit the public in March 2015.
