Tonight's Academy Award performances are going to be amazing--here's why

Whether or not you keep up with the Academy Awards—or have even seen the films that are nominated—watching the Oscars is always interesting. The red carpet is packed with glamorous celebs, top creators get top honors and, most excitingly, there are *amazing* performances. This year's lineup features some of our favorite artists (haaaaay, Justin and John!) performing the five songs nominated for an Academy Award for Original Song. Check out what these talented musicians have in store for us tonight, and a few little-known facts about them.

Justin Timberlake will perform his latest hit

That's right, we'll be hearing a live rendition of the U.S.'s best selling song of 2016, "Can't Stop The Feeling." The song was featured in the flick Trolls, and Justin co-wrote it with Max Martin and Shellback. Fun fact: Max and Shellback are the musical masterminds behind a ton of your other favorite songs such as "Heart Attack" by One Direction, "Problem" by Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea and the majority of the tracks on Taylor Swift's 1989.

Two top La La Land tracks, performed by John Legend

Just about every film and music lover can agree that La La Land is a one-of-a-kind musical masterpiece (after all, it has 14 Academy Award nominations tonight—and has already cleaned up pretty well at other award shows). John Legend—who plays Keith in the film—will be taking on Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling's solo songs, "Audition" and "City of Stars," and we are beyond excited to hear this talented performer put his spin on them.

16-year-old Auli'i Cravalho will sing an original Moana song

Together, composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Hawaiian actress will take the stage to perform "How Far I'll Go" from the incredibly popular film, Moana. (Alessia Cara also sings a rendition of this song!) If Lin-Manuel takes home an Oscar for the track, he'll be the youngest person to complete an EGOT (aka winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony)—something only 12 people have done.

Sting will perform a song from Jim: The James Foley Story

You may or may not know of the English singer-songwriter, Sting. The former Police frontman (a band your parents probably love!) will be performing "The Empty Chair" at tonight's Awards. The hit was co-written by J. Ralph who, surprisingly enough, does not read or write musical notes! He is *completely* self-taught—how cool is that?

Will you tune into the Oscars? Which performance are you most excited to watch? Let us know in the comments!
