Gift guide: Pretty things and pugs

If you’ve ever scrolled through GL’s Instagram (and if you haven’t, we’re @girlslifemag!), you’ve probably noticed a lot of pretty things….and a lot of pugs.

As GL’s beauty editor and owner of Winnie, our official mascot (and frequent Instagram model), I’m the girl behind many of those snaps. Two of my all-time favorite activities are trying out new beauty products (I’m a sucker for skincare, mostly) and taking pictures of my dog...so, naturally, all my favorite holiday gifts fit into this very niche theme. If you don’t like pretty things—or pugs—you should stop reading right here.

Herbivore Botanicals Coco Rose Lip Conditioner, $22
There is synthetic rose fragrance (yuck, no thanks...) and then there is the *actual* aroma of fresh rose petals. Somehow, this indie organic skincare line managed to bottle that incredible scent—and it smells just like the real deal. Swoon. Better yet, it’s available in a creamy lip butter—luxe and hydrating for even the driest winter lips. Smooch.

Casetify Pug Florals Case for iPhone 7 Plus, $40
Pugs and roses. Enough said, right? I get so many comments and compliments on this case—I’ve never had one that’s more “me.”

H2o+ Beauty Teak Rose on the Move Body Butter Stick (shown in top image) I’m all for no-mess multi-taskers that I can throw in my purse to solve multiple problems—and bonus if they're spill-proof. This stick checks *all* those boxes! Smooth it on rough spots, rub into cuticles and butter up lips for a quick dose of major moisture.

Glossier Lip Gloss, $50 in Black Tie Set
With a “skin is in" philosophy and plenty of pastel packaging (they made pink bubble wrap makeup bags a THING), Glossier is the ultimate beauty brand for girly girls who love makeup—but don’t want to feel like they’re hiding behind it. This clear gloss is hyper glassy, but not too sticky—use it when you need seriously smooth shine.

Pop Your Pup Tank (prices vary)
This is the ultimate gift for the animal-lover in your life: a cute tank featuring a custom, pop-art pic of their best friend. (Note: Works for dogs, cats, bunnies—they don’t discriminate.) Send in your photo and work with their awesome design team on a custom creation…then snap a selfie with the shirt’s star, obviously.

Society6 Pug Yoga Mug, $14
Pugs and yoga might not seem like the most obvious match—but the funny thing is that if you have a pug, you know they go through *all* (ok, most) of these positions on the regular (especially when trying to find a comfy spot). Winnie’s favorite stretch is in the top left corner—usually accompanied by a yawn.

Friendship Collar Set (prices vary)
What do you gift the truly pampered pup? If your pet is anything like Winnie, she already has enough toys and treats. This year, spoil her with a matching collar and bracelet set so you can hit #twinning status—the ultimate BFF move.

Etsy/Cuore Mimi the Pug Clutch, $48
OK, I don’t actually own this yet…but if any of my friends or family are reading this, hint hint! The perfect mix of kitschy and cute.

What pretty things and pug paraphernalia will *you* be gifting this year? Tell us in the comments!
