Ouch. I get a lot of letters like yours, and it makes me
wish I could write to the dads and not just the daughters. Since your father
can’t read your mind, you’ll have to tell him how you feel. Don’t say, “You pay
more attention to her than me.” Instead try, “Dad, I miss you. I don’t see you often enough, so when we do
get together it means a lot to me if we can do something, just us. What do you
think?” I hope he realizes he’s lucky to have a daughter who loves him. If all
else fails, leave this magazine open on his desk with a Post-it that says, “I
confess—I sometimes feel that way.”
