Why totter around in your totally fab high heels when you
can strut about all night long with just a little pre-party prep? Rock those
stilettos, pumps, sky-high wedges and strappy heels all night long with a li’l
help from the GL shoe-crazy crew. We’ve got all the moves you need to break
those babies in and brave ‘em for your big night out.
Try…
Walk to the walk
First things first: It’s time to get comfy takin’ your
stellar new shoes for a walk. Put ‘em on after school and wear them for an hour
or two at a time. If they’re tight, chillin’ on the couch to let them stretch a
bit first might help, but do get off your booty and cover some ground. Get used
to walking on tile, hardwood and carpeted floors.
Tip: Slippin’ and sliding? Hit the pavement to scuff up
the soles, or put a piece of duck tape on the sole, right beneath the bottom of
your foot, to give ya some traction.
Bust a move
High tail it to your room, crank up the tunes and work on
your best dance moves. Or, pop in a dance-centric video game like last year’s
hit Just Dance 2 and groove along as
best you can’t. Don’t push yourself—turning an ankle will keep ya sidelined all
season. But do get used to moving around in your kicks.
Yoga
Ready to give your feet a break? Toss your heels to the side
and grab a mat. Crank out a 20-minute yoga workout. It’ll help you strengthen
your core and work on your balance—both of which will keep you stable in
stilettos. Bonus? Even after just one yoga session, you’ll be standing taller,
making your bod look better than ever.
Squats ‘n’ lunges
These classic workout moves are perfect for toning your gams
without bulking up too much. Do some squats while watching holiday classics on
the tube, and lunge your way around the house while your favorite Christmas
cookies are in the oven.
Kick up the cardio
Cardio will help you burn calories, letting you munch away
guilt-free on holiday snacks. Better than that, though, is cardio’s ability to
build your endurance. Slip on a hoodie and grab a jump rope or your bike, then
get busy for a half hour. You’ll feel better, you’ll sleep better and you’ll be
able to dance the night away without pausing to catch your breath.
What’s your secret to rocking sky-high heels, sweeties?
