I get sores on my tongue!

What are they? Is there any way to prevent them or get rid of them faster?

What a pain—literally. According to Dr. Vinay N. Reddy, assistant professor of pediatrics and human development at Michigan State University, they are most likely aphthous ulcers, or canker sores. “No one’s quite sure what causes them,” says Dr. Reddy. “Canker sores usually go away in a few days. There’s no way to get rid of them faster, but there are some prescription medicines that can make them hurt less.”
One tip? “Salty and spicy foods often make canker sores hurt more.” So when they spring up, Dr. Reddy advises skipping the chips and salsa.
