Super easy & healthy snacks to take to the pool

We know—the options at the pool snack bar are super tempting. But those corn dogs and fries can leave you feeling bloated the rest of the day, totally killin’ your comfy, confident poolside vibe. That’s why we’ve put together a list of healthy, yummy treats that will make you feel like you’re chillin’ at a five star hotel even if you’re at your local pool or in your own backyard. Some of these may require you to pull out your school lunch box and throw in an ice pack to keep ‘em fresh, and others are good to go in your beach bag alone (just keep them in the shade).

Watermelon made fun:

Watermelon is the ultimate summer snack. But we’ve all been there, done that. Our favorite way to jazz it up? Squeeze on some lemon or lime.  If you’re feeling really bold, shake on a pinch of salt or throw on some mint leaves. And for ultimate pool portability, check your local grocery store for a tub of pre-cubed watermelon chunks. You can get one and a lemon for under $5.

Avocado everything:

Avocado browns super easily, so if taking it to-go on a summer adventure, take a halved one with the pit still in it (it helps to keep it fresh) in your cooler or lunchbox. It’s totally worth it, because it’s basically the yummiest dip around for all kinds of snacks. Made some crispy toast ahead of time and cut it up into bite size pieces, or bring along your favorite crackers or chips. Cheesy ones are especially yummy with avocado!

Caprese skewers:

Grab a few toothpicks (4 or 5 make a filling snack) and stack on a couple halved cherry tomatoes, a couple basil leafs, and a mini mozzarella ball. Add some salt and pepper and bring along a little cup of olive oil to drizzle. And, you guessed it, these would also be great with avocado. Need a step-by-step recipe? Check out THIS how-to.

Nutella granola bars:

We know you need a summer chocolate fix. Get it in the form of a healthy nut and granola bar you can make yourself, no oven required, drizzled in gooey chocolate and Nutella. Get the recipe HERE.

DIY gourmet popcorn:

Popcorn is an amazing on-the-go snack, but don’t feel like you have to stick to basic salt. Shake on some grated parmesan and some thick sea salt. Put in a Ziploc, shake it up, and throw it in your tote. Or, if you’ve got a sweet tooth, try THIS super easy kettle corn recipe.
