4 fab smoothies to keep you cool this summer
Ditch the sugary lemonade or fat-laden ice cream and whip up some sweet smoothies. We stuck with plain yogurt, real fruit and no juice to keep ’em from being sugary nightmares (like a lot of smoothies at the mall!). Here are our four faves.
Sweet and Tart Sweetheart Smoothie
Just a bit tangy, this taste just like summer!
• 1 cup of fresh strawberries
• 2 or 3 slices of peeled lemon or 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice
• 1 cup of ice
Plop them in a blender and whirl away.
Mango Peach Island Fusion Smoothie
This is an instant getaway, but would might a light breakfast too.
• 1/2 mango, sliced
• 1-2 peaches, sliced
• 1 cup of plain yogurt
• 1 cup of ice
Pop them all your blender until smooth.
Banana Blueberry Blend Smoothie
Perf for your post-run snack.
• Peel one or two bruised bananas (older bananas taste better than newly ripened ones)
• 1 handful of fresh blueberries
• 1 cup of plain yogurt.
Stick them in the blender and—ta da!--a summery treat.
Pineapple Coconut Poolside Splash
To sum it up in one word: YUM!
• 4-5 slices pineapple
• 1 cup coconut water
• 1 cup of ice cubes
Blend it together for the ultimate fruity pick-me-up.
