{related}Whether you’re simply tired of your old routine or you stopped seeing results ages ago, the start of spring is the perfect time to update your fitness plan. Forget about cleaning out that closet. We’ve got tips to revamp those tired old moves.
If you swear by crunches…
Try planks. This move engages your entire core for all-over toning, not just your abs.
Get in a pushup position. Then come down on your forearms instead of your palms. Squeeze in your core and hold for thirty seconds. Repeat twice.
Try the Superman. A Pilates-inspired move to keep ya on your toes (well, sorta).
Lie flat on your belly with your arms and legs stretched out in front and back of you respectively. Arch your back, lifting your arms and legs and hold for 15 seconds. Take a couple breaths and repeat for 3 reps.
If you’re all about pushups…
Try pull-ups. Sure, they’re tough but they’re amazing when it comes to defining your arms.
At the gym or playground, find the pull up bar, wrap your hands around it and try the lift yourself up using only your arm muscles. Start with one or two and work your way up.
Try dips. They’ll help make your arms look awesome…just in time for tank top season.
Find a sturdy chair or a park bench. Sit down with your feet planted in front of you and your arms gripping the chair. Slide your butt off the seat. Bend your arms to lower yourself down. Push up and repeat for two sets of 15.
If you run…
Try: Any other form of cardio to mix it up a bit. Think: kickboxing, swimming, biking, dancing, power yoga or whatever else gets your heart thumpin’. This is a great opportunity for you and your girls to get together and try out a totally new activity that will get you all in shape and outta boring routines!
