Country Taylor is back (yee-haw!) with the single, “I Knew It, I Knew You” for Toy Story 5’s premiere on June 19!
And the message behind this new tune is v. fitting, considering that summer is the perfect time to reconnect with a long-lost bestie—whether it’s a pal who moved cross-country last year, a camp friend you haven’t seen in ages or, in very Jessie fashion, a fave childhood toy you found collecting dust (hiii, Furbies).
We’re debriefing the “I Knew It, I Knew You” friendship lessons that make up our new fave summer single—and the moves you can make to guarantee the best bestie vacay ever.

Life lesson #1: What we love never goes out of style
Maybe you two had a falling out, or maybe you and your girl just grew distant with busy school schedules this year. The good news? “I Knew It, I Knew You” tells us that time apart can not erase those good memories. Case in point: “But love has a way of bringing things back to life.”
This song reminds us that sometimes, one reunion is all it takes to remember the laughter, hilarious adventures and heart-to-hearts you had with a long-lost friend.
Your friendship move: Reach out to a gal you haven’t talked to in a while (your co-star from last summer’s theater camp, perhaps?) and invite her to grab matcha one weekend this summer. You never know: Reconnecting might bring you two closer than ever.

Life lesson #2: Good friends show up when it matters
Think about your mom who brought a bouquet to your nerve-wracking choir concert or the friends who cheered you on during your soccer match (with a crafty cut-out of your face from the bleachers, ofc). Those supportive moments are what ‘ships are all about—and “I Knew It, I Knew You” reminds us that showing up for the people we care about is a must-do.
Your friendship move: Next time your bestie is going through a rough patch, surprise her with her favorite cupcake, a sweet text or a Target run to take her mind off things. Showing up when things are bright ‘n’ shiny is one thing—being there for your gal when times get tough is even more important.

Life lesson #3: You don’t have to fear forgiveness
We know how tempting it can be to hold a grudge. But, when you think about a person—whether an old friend or ex-crush—it can be tiring to relive the same hurt feelings (over…and over). When you make the (sometimes difficult) leap to forgive, you can make something good of the past—and maybe even open yourself up to a restored connection.
“Sometimes people’s paths diverge, and that doesn’t mean that’s the last time that you get to feel those memories or know that person,” Taylor said about the song. “And, sometimes when you look back on your childhood, those memories—that’s special in itself.”
Your friendship move: Reach out to a person you lost touch with over drama, gossip or a misunderstanding. Send a heartfelt text to clear the air (“I’m so sorry this happened. I really don’t want this to come between us” is a good start).
