Ready to turn your bedroom into the serene space of your dreams? These six simple DIYs will give your room a major upgrade—and transform it into a place so cozy, you’ll never want to leave.
Cozy Canopy

Turn your bed into a heavenly hideaway with this easy DIY canopy.
What You’ll Need: Six panels of lace curtains, eight sticky hooks and ribbon (optional)
Step 1: First things first, evenly place the hooks on the ceiling surrounding your bed—three on the sides going length-wise and two on the sides going width-wise (you may need more or less depending on the size of your bed).
Step 2: Starting on one side, hang the tops of the curtains between two hooks and continue around the perimeter of your bed until it’s completely covered.
Step 3: If you love the look, stop there! But if you want to add a little something extra, cut a few small pieces of ribbon and tie a bow around some of the panels for added dimension.
Step 4: Get comfy in the fairytale bed of your dreams!
Embroidered Pillowcase

Put a chic, personal touch on your bedding with a custom embroidered pillowcase. Add your name, your favorite flower or a funny phrase to make your pillows totally unique.
What You’ll Need: One pillowcase, embroidery thread, a sewing needle and an embroidery hoop
Step 1: Pick your design out ahead of time and choose where on the pillow you’d like to stitch. Once you’ve found your spot, secure your embroidery hoop, making sure the fabric is taut (no squished stitches here!).
Step 2: Lightly trace your design in pencil onto your pillowcase. Don’t worry about staining—the thread will cover up any pencil marks, and anything left showing will come out in the wash.
Step 3: Thread your needle and start stitching. (If you’re new to embroidery, peep some stitching tutorials here.) Go slow and follow your outline.
Step 4: Once you’ve finished, secure your design with a knot on the inside of the pillowcase and trim any excess string.
Step 5: Remove the hoop, wash your pillowcase in the washing machine and voilà!
Bedtime Basket

Want some good news? You most likely have everything you need for this sleepy-time DIY already! All you need is a basket small enough for your nightstand plus your nightly must-haves, and you’ll be catching zzz’s in no time.
Fill the basket with everything you could need before bed so you don’t have to get up once you get cozy. Think: a good book, soothing pillow spray, a moisturizing hand cream and a set of eye patches all in one place.
Lacy Pin Board

Everyone needs a place to put their special memories, so why not make it extra cute? A corkboard can go from basic to Pinterest-worthy with just a little lace added to the mix.
What You’ll Need: A corkboard, fabric, fabric glue, push pins and lace ribbons. (A little PSA—thrift stores usually have fabric and ribbons at a *major discount,* so be sure to check your local second-hand shop before making the trip to Hobby Lobby.)
Step 1: Start by measuring the length and width of your corkboard and cutting your fabric to fit the dimensions. P.S. It doesn’t have to be perfect—you’ll cover up the sides later, so don’t stress about choppy edges.
Step 2: Evenly coat the board in fabric glue and place the cut fabric down, pressing evenly to make sure it’s smooth and secure.
Step 3: While waiting for the glue to dry, cut your ribbon to fit the edge and secure it around the border using push pins.
Step 4: Once your corkboard has dried completely, you’re ready to decorate! Add photos, ticket stubs, drawings or whatever your heart desires.
Beaded Curtains

Picture this: You wake up bright and early (somehow not tired), birds are chirping and the sunlight is streaming in through your window in every color of the rainbow. Sounds magical, right? You can turn that dream into a reality with these breathtaking beaded curtains.
What You’ll Need: Beading wire and glass craft beads
Step 1: Measure and cut the wire to your desired length. You can make them all the same size for that traditional curtain look or make some shorter than the others for a little variation.
Step 2: Next, decide if you want the beads to be in a pattern or if you like a more eclectic vibe. Start stringing your beads.
Step 3: Once you’ve added all the beads, tie off the end and leave some excess string behind. Repeat the process until all of your strands are finished.
Step 4: Finally, take the end with the leftover string, loop it around your curtain rod in a tight knot, and your new handmade set of curtains is complete!
Starry Night Lamp

For the final dreamy touch, this DIY starry lamp will give your bedroom the nightlight it deserves.
What You’ll Need: A lamp, various fabrics and peel-and-stick adhesive
Step 1: Make sure your fabric is wrinkle-free and select what patterns you want to include in your designs (the stars aren’t huge, so this is a great way to use up some scrap fabric).
Step 2: If you want a uniform look, you can trace the shape onto the fabric, but if you like the perfectly imperfect vibe, skip that step and go straight to placing the sticky adhesive to the backside of the fabric.
Step 3: Once the adhesive is placed, start cutting.
Step 4: When you’ve made as many as you’d like, remove the paper from the adhesive and press the stars firmly onto the lampshade.
Step 5: Turn off the big light and flip the switch on your new lamp to see the full effect.
