I feel really left out right now. Three of my closest friends have BFs and I don’t. A lot of time on the weekends they’re out with their BFs and I’m home alone with nothing to do and no one to be with. When I’m over at there houses, they are either talking to them on the phone or texting them. It makes me so MAD! If I had a BF, I wouldn’t trick my friends like this! Once they texted me to see if I wanted to go bowling with them on a group date with their BFs. Then they texted me again saying, “Oh sorry, I 4got u don’t have a BF. Let’s hang out some other time” Help Me!’
-Oregon Girl Rock!
Hey Oregon Girl,
As a wise woman (a.k.a. my mom) told me a long time ago, girlfriends last longer than boyfriends. I feel left out sometimes, too, because some of my friends have boyfriends and I don’t. But we still make time for each other and we’re always there for each other. The important thing to remember is boyfriends may not last forever, but true friendships do.
Speak up. Let your girls know how you really feel. They’re not mind readers. Tell them you feel left out when they’re always with their boyfriends. Also, don’t be afraid to tell them it’s rude to spend all their time on the phone with their guys when they asked you to come over.
Make a date. Schedule a girls’ night out (or in) at least once a week or every so often to keep in touch with your girls, no boys allowed! Have a sleepover, go to the movies, bake brownies together, just have fun and have a good time.
Make new friends. Instead of limiting yourself to the same three friends all the time, get out there and make some new friends! It doesn’t hurt to have other people to hang out with sometimes. You’ll get to meet new people and maybe even make some new best friends!
Ciao bella,
L’Oreal
