I’m a very artistic person and I always make everyone christmas presents. (I’m also very organized which is why I’m thinking about christmas this early.) Two years ago, I made a ton of beaded presents; last year, I knit everyone a special scarf; and this year, I am sewing everyone presents. I know what I’m making everyone…except my dad and uncle. Everytime I ask him what he wants, my dad always says that just me being myself is all he wants. I know he’s just being modest, but I really have no clue what to make for him (and my uncle)! Do you have any suggestions? I was thinking maybe I could sew him a nice cell phone case or something…’

Hey girl,
It’s great that you’re artistic! Props to you for being a creative gal and making cute personalized gifts for the holidays.
I totally hear where you’re coming from with your dad. My dad tells me every year not to get him anything but of course I always get him something anyways. So how to give the perfect, personalized gift to your dad?
Sewing a cell phone case sounds like a great idea! Think of making it your dad’s fave color or patterns. You could even sew his initials onto the case to make it even more unique!
If you’re willing to get away from the whole sewing thing for you dad and uncle’s gifts you could make a lot of other fun, crafty gifts. If they like sweets, bake up a delish batch of cookies or brownies! Decorate them with holiday-colored sprinkles or m and m’s. Tie ’em in fun holiday tissue paper and cute ribbon.
Or make them a personalized picture frame. Put little things that remind you of your dad or uncle on the frame itself–magazine cutouts of words or pictures, movie tickets from movies you’ve seen with your dad, stickers–and then put a picture of you and your dad or you and your uncle in the frame itself. Write a cool message like “Happy Holidays” or “I love you,” or an inside joke on the frame.
Bottom line is…have fun with it girl! When your dad and uncle see how much thought you’ve put into their gifts they will love it!
Good luck girl and enjoy the holidays!
