My mom wants me to tell her everything, like whether or not I have a BF but, when I confide in her, she tells my dad. I hate it!
How can I talk to my mom without my dad finding out everything about me?
When you can get your mom’s undivided attention (sometime when your dad is not around), explain to her that, while you like telling her about what’s going on in your life, you don’t want everything you say to be repeated—even to your dad.
Let her know that some of the stuff you tell her is in confidence (girl talk, if you will) and that you would like it to remain that way. Make sure she understands that if you can’t feel like the stuff you spill is safe with her, then you will be reluctant to let her in on any future 411.
