Your mom’s right—a teen girl having a male doc is quite normal. But if it prevents you from asking questions during doctor’s visits, you should insist on making a change. Explain to your mom that going to a female doctor is important to you. Maybe one who works out of the same office as your current doc, or ask friends if they have a doctor they really like. Write their names and numbers down to pass on to your mom. Once she knows how serious you are about the switch sitch, she might pay more attention to your concerns.
