Curl-enhancing spray
Rattail comb
Spray damp hair with curl-enhancing product. Got2B Curl-Vacious Curled Up Spray, $6, cvs.com
Use the comb to section hair into 1-inch squares (it doesn’t have to be super-precise). It’s best to start with the hair that frames the face and work your way around your head. Take one section and wrap hair around your index finger. Carefully slide the newly-formed loop off of your finger. Use two pins (cross ‘em like an X) to secure it in place against your head. Repeat until your entire head is covered in pinned loops.
When hair is dry, carefully take the bobby pins out, starting with the bottom layer of hair. Use your fingers to loosen curls, or brush out the ringlets for a retro wave. Use the comb to create a deep side part. Finish with hairspray.
