The best way to fix school problems is to stay after and get extra help. Luckily for you. Practice for school teams often starts after “after school.” Use the time between school and volleyball to pick your teacher’s brain about what you’re doing wrong and ways you can improve. If you don’t understand that material, stay after that day, don’t wait a week until you are so lost that it is even more difficult to understand what is going on. It is always helpful to do practice tests as well. If your school offers student tutoring, see if you can get paired up with someone. Kids can usually explain difficult concepts in ways that teacher’s can’t. For me, every team I was on required me to maintain a specific grade point average. My coach requested my grades every term and if we weren’t doing well we sat out games. It is tough love but maybe you could come to some sort of agreement with your coach. That way you have motivation to do well.
