Hey, babe. Hmm! This is def a first for me to hear that someone actually wants to be home schooled. Well, before convincing anybody of anything, I think ya need to do some thinking on your own, hun!
I suggest that you sit down with pen and paper and jot down what you think being home schooled means. Then, make two columns, one for pros and one for cons. After you make this list of the good and bad things about being home schooled, take a long look at each column. Doing this little activity will give you a clearer picture of what being home schooled will be like for ya, babe.
In my personal opinion, I think it’s def much more fun and liberating to attend a public or private school with tons of other kids your age, younger and older. You’ll meet so many more people, make tons of memories and meet people from all different backgrounds and not only from your church youth group. Why not try it out and then if you really don’t like it, make the switch then?
But anyways, after making your list, bring it to your parents as evidence that you did think long and hard about home schooling. Explain to them clearly why you want this and what you hope to get from this experience. Hopefully they will understand your point of view, but don’t be disappointed if they don’t and disagree. At this point, you need to take a mature stance and instead of getting upset, understand that parents always know best and ALWAYS want the best for their kids! Trust them and see what happens!
