Okay so my sister can be very emotional. She often says things like “I’m useless”! I try to explain that she’s a valued member of the family, and give her suggestions of things to get her mind off of her worries, but she comes back to them. She gets everyone distraught even though she doesn’t mean to. For example, she is always worried about time going too fast, and I try to say that it doesn’t always go by fast, but then she starts sobbing. No matter what we do none of us can help her. This happens almost every night and has for several months. Thanks

First I must say that you are a GREAT sister for worrying like this about her. By noticing her changing behavior and asking questions like this, you may be able to help her out in a positive way. It sounds like your sis might have some issues with anxiety. Anxiety is when you can’t shake a worry or are totally overly anxious about something you shouldn’t be. I would clue your parents in on her behavior and see what they think. They can probably help her out best by either talking to her to see what’s been up lately, or getting her some help through a counselor. Like I said it could just be something she’s had on her mind lately, or something deeper, but either way keep up the wonderful support you’re providing for your sis!
Love,
Jaime
