With the elimination of Rayven and Jamie last week, we are back with nine couples. The choreography is a little harder and the pressure is a little more intense.
Couple 1: Thayne and Chelsea
Dance—Jazz with Mandy Moore
Song—Untouched by The Veronicas
Judge Summary:
Mia—“It was not there.”
Mary—“It didn’t work for me. I didn’t believe the chemistry.”
Nigel—“It wasn’t real and I don’t like what you’re wearing.”
Me—Cool concept, but I’m not really a fan of how they carried it out. I thought the choreography focused too much on Chelsea and left Thayne out. He could have done so much more.
Couple 2: Chelsie and Mark
Dance—Tango with Alex DeSilva
Song—Mi Confesión by Gotan Project
Judge Summary:
Mia—“I am so in love with you. You are the most perfect and odd couple.”
Mary—“I loved everything. That was hot.”
Nigel—“I would have liked to see a little more passion.”
Me—I thought the footwork was crazy talented. My only issue with this dance was Chelsie. The whole time Mark is looking at her like he wants her and she just doesn’t care. What’s with that?
Couple 3- Jessica and Will
Dance—Hip Hop with Olisa and Cecily
Song—Whatever You Like by Nicole Scherzinger
Judge Summary:
Mia—“Jess, you have to set yourself on fire. You are going to have to step it up. Will, you are a genius.”
Mary—“Jess, you’re not quite there. Will, you are living it.”
Nigel—“Jessica, I think you did really well for being out of your element. Will, I have said it before and I will say it again, I think you will be in our top four.”
Me—I wasn’t too into this dance. I just felt like they weren’t hitting it hard enough. I think it is one of the more forgettable dances of the night.
Couple 4- Kourtni and Matt
Dance—Foxtrot with Jean Marc Generaux
Song—A Foggy Day in London Town by MichaelBublé
Judge Summary:
Mia—“This is great old Hollywood elegance and I love it.”
Mary—“It started out strong, but towards the end it just didn’t happen.”
Nigel—“Good, but a bit of a fake performance.”
Me—I loved this dance. I agree with everything Mia said. It brought back the glamour and grace of the old Hollywood.
Couple 5: Courtney and Gev
Dance—Contemporary with Mandy Moore
Song—Last by Anouk
Judge Summary:
Mia—“Gev, I am so proud of you. Courtney, I am going to start expecting more from you.”
Mary—“I loved it. That was hot.”
Nigel—“I didn’t believe that emotion though you both danced very well.”
Me—That dance was everything falling in love is. I absolutely loved Gev during this dance. He puts so much emotion into his performance. And just to state: What was with Nigel basically accusing him of having feelings for Courtney? I am not saying I disagree, but to point it out on national TV? Come on, Nigel.
Couple 6: Katee and Joshua
Dance—Broadway with Tyce Diorio
Song—All For the Best from GodSpell
Judge Summary:
Mia—“It was amazing. The connection between the two of you is unreal.”
Mary—“There should be a warrantee on you two: Satisfaction Guaranteed!”
Nigel—*insert an attempt at crazy Broadway dancing here* “Fantastic, beautiful, you are entertainment at its best.”
Me—THIS WAS MY FAVORITE OF THE NIGHT! And I am not just saying that because I was in GodSpell (though I am a little bit, lol). I felt the energy the whole time. I wanted to dance along and paint crazy designs on my face.
Couple 7: Susie and Marquis
Dance—Salsa with Alex DeSilva
Song—Aquanile by Willie Colon and Hector Lavoe
Judge Summary:
Mia—“I wasn’t crazy about this performance.”
Mary—“This wasn’t quite working for me.”
Nigel—“This should have been fiery and it wasn’t.”
Me—Though the judges were harsh on them tonight, I definitely agree with everything they said. The only thing they had going for them was the lift where he spun her over his head. Besides that it was pretty forgettable.
Couple 8: Kherington and Twitch
Dance—Waltz with Jean Marc Generaux
Song—A New Day Has Come by Celine Dion
Judge Summary:
Mia—“I really felt this. Twitch, I am so proud of you. You really stepped it up here.”
Mary—“This brought joy to me. It really touched me.”
Nigel—“I felt elated. What a beautiful routine.”
Me—I got chills from this dance it was so emotionally charged. Even if they had danced it badly (which they didn’t), the purpose of the dance and the meaning behind the choreography still would have affected me. Side note: I loved Kherington’s dress.
Couple 9: Chris and Comfort
Dance—Krumping with LiL’C
Song—Come and Get Me by Timbaland
Judge Summary:
Mia—“You pulled it off.”
Mary—“I loved the beginning, but you seemed to lose your energy towards the end.”
Nigel—“Chris, my granny is more gangster than you.”
Me—I would just like to state that a lot of what Nigel said and did at this point on the show was completely unprofessional and even a little crude. Beyond that though, I really didn’t think Chris or Comfort really hit this dance. They could have done so much better.

Bottom Three Couples:
Chelsea and Thayne
Susie and Marquis
Comfort and Chris
Eliminated: Susie and Marquis
I agreed with the judges this week. I definitely felt that Susie and Marquis were the weakest couple out of the nine. I disagreed with what they had to say about Marquis’ solo though. I thought it was full of passion and fight rather than tricks (as they said it was). I was never really a fan of Susie so I wasn’t said to see her go. I would have rather seen Chris go than Marquis though. There is something about that boy that is just plain awkward to me.
So You Think You Can Dance will continue Wednesday night from 8-10 pm and Thursday night 9-10 pm. See you then!
