I’m on a swim team and we practice 3 to 4 days a week. The chlorine is making my hair look fried. How can I keep it looking cute?
Time in the pool is one of the best parts of summer vacay. Less chill? The way the H20 can take a huge toll on your hair.
We recommend using a swim-specific shampoo, like Aquia ($7, swimoutlet.com) after every swim. It’ll clear your hair of the chemical buildup from chlorine, without being too harsh. Bonus: It works great on all hair types.
Work with your wet locks to get a back-from-the beach ‘do. After washing your hair, spritz on some beach spray, like Sunsilk’s Waves of Envy Sea Mist ($4, drugstores.com). Gather hair at the base of your neck and loosely twist it into a bun. Secure with a soft elastic. When hair dries, let out the bun and you’ll have great waves.
For those daily swimmers, make sure you tone down the amount of heat you’re putting on your hair. Try to let those locks air-dry as often as possible. And hold off on straighteners or curling irons for a bit.
