Get ready to start shaking that thang around the living room cause we’re back with season four of So You Think You Can Dance! And I’m your host, Lauren Linhard! I don’t have the cute British accent like Cat Deeley, but I am just as fabulous.
I plan on bringing you weekly recaps (’cause some things just need to be discussed more than once), comments on the show/contestants and any behind the scenes info I happen to get my hands on. So without further ado, week one, also known as…AUDITIONS!
Setting: Los Angles
Judges: Nigel Lythgoe-producer
Mary Murphy-ballroom
Mia Michaels- modern
Stars: Dancers—the good, the bad, the pitiful

Day 1 started out with a wee bit of confusion as the music began, but the dancer did not. Not a good omen of the day to come. Luckily, it was the wrong music and Devon turned out to be amazing. The judges were quick to praise and even quicker to hand her that Vegas ticket. One down, a couple hundred to go.
It all went downhill from there. Jonathon, a professional dancer from Italy, was given quite a lecture from Nigel on the importance of learning and modesty. Not gonna lie, he didn’t get any of it. He was sent to the choreography level, which I found to be a stupid choice on the judges part, where he was just as cocky as before. Easy to say, no Vegas for him.
He was followed by a man known simply as “Sex.” Where such a nickname comes from, I have no idea. Back for a third time to audition, Nigel believes that Sex just likes to watch himself on television. Let me just say, not sure I agree with that, but I do agree with Nigel’s statement on the lack of sexy in Sex’s dancing skills.
Between the strange and amusing mix of characters like Golden Inferno, with his own jump dance style, and the guy who stripped down to his underwear (so unpleasant), we thankfully had a handful of amazing dancers.
Mia deemed Leonidas and Aliona’s ballroom “hot, hot, hot, and smoking” as she handed them both tickets to Vegas. They were joined by fellow ballroom dancers Ricky and Asuka.
Kherington, one of the few modern dancers to go to Vegas, was told that she had the “It Factor.” Dominic, part of the top 10 from last season, couldn’t contain his smile as she danced across the stage. Hmmm, the beginnings of love? We shall see.
Phil, Victor, and Robert rocked out the hip-hop and pop-and-lock. But Victor will not be joining Phil and Robert in Vegas.
Favorite dancer of the night: Robert. Don’t remember him? He was the last dancer of Day 2. You know it was hilarious when he slow-motion danced over to Nigel, and instead reaching for the Vegas ticket, leaned in for that manly hug. And if you didn’t notice, I would just like to point out that Nigel was definitely shaking his butt! Yeah, Nigel, we know. You still got it.
Auditions will continue next week at 8 pm on Fox. So You Think You Can Dance will be traveling to Salt Lake City and Dallas. I’m so there. Hope you can join me!
