On top of appreciating the amaze DCOMs dropping this summer and counting down to the fall’s all-new Worlds Collide Concert Tour, we can’t help but look forward to the next installment in our fave monster-filled musical franchise: ZOMBIES 5: Secrets of the Sea. Good news for Daywalkers and vamps alike: We’re breaking down everything we know (so far) about the flick, from cast info to fresh characters to insider plot deets.

Judging by the adorbs vid of Milo Manheim revealing the Z5 title, it looks like a new kind of creature will be pulling up in Rayburn come 2027. You guessed it: mermaids!
Turns out the peace between the once-rival monster squads is getting put to the test as a band of fierce mermaids arrive in town. It’s going to be up to dynamic duo Nova (Freya Skye) and Victor (Malachi Barton)—quick, is their ship name “Novictor” or “Vicnova?”—to unite their groups and figure out exactly what the newcomers are after.
Could the ZOMBIES crew be facing its most divided moment yet? Will the mermaids be fast friends or full-on enemies? And, maybe most importantly, are Nova and Victor endgame?
🌊 Who’s in the cast?
While Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim—aka the king and queen of the ZOMBIES flicks—will not be reprising their roles as Addison and Zed, they will both be working behind the scenes as executive producers.
Luckily, we can still expect to see Freya and Malachi on the big screen, as well as familiar faces Swayam Bhatia (as Vera), Mekonnen Knife (as Vargas), Julian Lerner (as Ray) and yup, our O.G. cheer rockstar Bucky (Trevor Tordjman).

🌊 Can fans expect to see new characters?
If you don’t know already (or ICYM the teaser that Disney dropped), Z5 is going to revolve around a trio of mermaids, including bad boy Fin (Taylor Oliver), effortlessly cool Pearl (Diaana Babnicova) and tech whiz Sandy (Olive Mortimer).
And those aren’t the only new characters we’re pumped to meet: Zed’s cousin and new transfer student, Izzy, will be played by Emily Costtrici.

Additional deets about the story and characters are still under wraps, but production is rumored to have wrapped this spring in New Zealand. The cast video above gives a tiny glimpse of each character’s fresh fits—but fingers crossed we’ll get a sneak peek of those mermaid tails soon. Consider us v. much hooked.
