Don't Want My Parents to Adopt

I have a serious problem. My parents want to adopt a Chinese girl. I really don’t want to because I think it will change my life too drastically. I like my life the way it is. Could you give me some advice on how to deal with the new baby if we adopt one.

-Against Adopting

Dear A.A ,

While adopting a baby is a huge step, you may end up liking life even more as a sister. At first you may feel mad or jealous, as well as excited. But soon you may get a kick out of having a little sister who lights up when you approach and struggles to say your name and reaches for your hand.

She’ll annoy you sometimes, but she’ll also add more love to your life. And what a difference you and your parents are making in hers.
