Eating Orders

When you're babysitting, always pay attention to the parent's orders about food. Tim is allergic to mangoes, his twin Sarah isn't, but you shouldn't have Tim near the mangoes in the first place. Cookies are off-limits...stuff like that!
Here's a list of foods that should be avoided at all times, even if the parents don't directly say to avoid feeding them these things.

1. Grapes
Grapes can cause choking. If they're begging for some grapes, at least cut them into fourths. It might seem silly, but you don't want the kids chocking! Same goes for olives.

2. Rare meats
If there's some steak in the fridge but it's pink in the middle, fix up somethin' else instead. Most parents aren't too keen on feeding their kiddos pink meats.

3. Popcorn kernels
If you've prepared a bag of microwave popcorn, use your hand to put it into the bowl so the kernels aren't at the bottom. They're a choking hazard.

4.NEVER feed infants honey.
Children under one year of age cannot process the honey in their intestines the way adults can.

5. Anything messy!
Yogurt is great, and so is applesauce. But here's the deal: when you're feeding younger kids these things, don't give them a whole thing of it or they'll make a mess. Instead, plop some onto a plate with the rest of their meal.
