The overwhelming majority of 13-year-olds are virgins. That's a fact. But once a girl claims to have been-there-done-that, others pretend they have, too. You are right; being reckless is wrong. If your friends really are a fast-moving bunch, hang out with other kids.

Every year about 10,000 girls 14 or under do become moms, and believe me, that's not ideal for the babies or the girls who cheat themselves out of a childhood. It's hard to go to a movie, a dance, or college when you have a baby to care for. Being a parent is a big job. You know that, because you see how busy your parents are working, cooking, cleaning, shopping, paying bills and leaning on you to make your bed and do your homework.

For now, grow up at your own pace and stay far away from drugs. Someday, you will have a boyfriend and you won't be missing the kissing. But even then, I hope you'll know that sex can wait.
