I have gal friends but I want guy friends too. It's always been hard for me to get guy friends. How do I do it? I don't play sports because I'm really shy and self-conscious. Are there any other ways I can meet guys that will have a lot in common with me?

Hey girl, I totally know what it's like to want to have both girl friends and guy friends. There's nothing better than having your girl BFFs to talk about boys, shop, and have sleepovers with, but BGFs are awesome, also. Having girl friends and guy friends is the best of both worlds! I know it may seem like guy friends are hard to find, but it's easier than you think to meet boys who share the same interests as you.

How to get started on your BGF search? First, make a list of your interests. Then, think about the traits that you would like your BGF to have. Love saving the planet? See if your school has an environmental club (coed, of course!) where you can meet eco-conscious boy buds.

If you've already got too much on your after-school sched to join another club, just think of our day-to-day. News flash, girlie: guy pals are everywhere...you just gotta go out and talk to 'em. If you LOVE to read, go to the library! You can always strike up a convo with a guy that you see in the sci fi section (your fave!) or any boy in the check out line.

Feel like getting in shape for the summer? Even if you're not athletic enough to be on a sports team, the gym or the track is an amazing way to find new guy friends! This one time I was at the gym with my BFF, and while I was waiting to use the treadmill, I decided to see if there were any fun weight workouts I could try. I started a random convo with a boy that was lifting weights close by, and it turns out that we went to the same middle school! We realized that his BF was friends with my BFF. Starting a convo is the hardest part, but once you start talking, you will find that you have more in common with these boys than you think.

If you go to a coed school, make buds with guys in your classes. Maybe a boy on your bus that you never thought to talk to could end up having similar interests. OR you may discover that the guy that sits next to you in science class likes the same movies that you like!

I know that guys can be scary to talk to, but try not to get nervous. It's not like you're talking to your crush. Convos with your guy friends should come naturally. If you find a guy that you are nervous and uncomfortable to be around, then you might be crushin'. When I talk to my guy friends I sometimes forget that they are guys, and find myself telling them the same secrets that I tell my gal friends!

So, get out there and use these tips, chica. You're bound to have tons of BGFs in no time.
