Why are my BFFs sooo babyish?

My science class is making a display of an environmentally-friendly house and I have it all planned out! But I am so frustrated with my two friends! They sent a note (a hateful one) and I showed it to my teacher and we got called into the principal’s office.

Later on they said, “I am sorry but what was on the note was how we felt!” All I said to them was “shut up” and “stop acting like a loser” and they tattled on me! We are in 7th grade and shut up is part of my vocabulary and they are just being huge babies! They play with dolls in school, all their time on the computer is on kiddie sites, they have no idea who the stars are and they wear their hoodies on inside out and backwards. They are mean and they are freaks.

Hey Chloe,

It sounds like you and your friends need to sit down and have a nice long conversation about how you guys really feel about one another. Everyone matures at different times, and just because they’re still into "kiddie" sites and things like that, doesn’t mean they’re freaks. Instead of focusing on your differences, why not talk about what you all have in common? You know, why you became friends in the first place.

People grow up and change, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be friends. Let them know their note hurt your feelings. You should also be open to hearing their side of the story as well. It may not seem mean to you, but some people are offended by the phrase “shut up.” Apologizing for calling them "losers" may help as well. There’s no reason to give up a friendship because of small differences. If you really care about each other, you all will find a way to work it out.

Lots of love,
L’Oreal
