9 crafty presents to make this Mother's Day

Let's face it: Mom doesn't want you to spend a ton of money on her Mother's Day gift. What she *really* hearts the most is the homemade stuff––so let's DIY something great and make her special day the best one yet! Ahead, our top pics to make Mom's big day a little more magical:

Cupcake bouquet

Bake some cupcakes and decorate the icing in the shape of flowers. Glue a Styrofoam ball into a flowerpot. Make sure the ball is large enough that it sticks out of the pot. Stick toothpicks into the Styrofoam and place the cupcakes on top of each one. If you can still see the Styrofoam around the flower cupcakes, put green tissue paper to cover it up. Your mom will heart having her own edible flowers!

Pocket frame

Cut out the back pocket from an old pair of jeans. With a needle and thread, sew one end of a ribbon to the top left corner of the pocket. Then, sew the other end of the ribbon to the top right corner. Keep the ribbon longer than the pocket, so it will be easy to hang. Finally, glue your favorite pic of yourself with mom and paste it on the middle of the pocket. Hang on the wall for a cute decoration that will always remind her of you. Super thoughtful!

Hand heart card

Take a piece of construction paper and fold it in half. Along the folded side, place your thumb and index finger at the tip. Trace your whole on the card, then cut along the traced line. When you unfold the card, you will see two hands forming a heart. In each hand, you can write a little note for your mother. This is a gift she will never forget!

World’s best mom tee

Tape some wax paper over a large cardboard rectangle. Place the waxed cardboard inside a colored tee. With a bleach pen, write out “world’s best mom” on the front of the shirt. Let the bleach dry for ten minutes. Finally, take the cardboard out and rinse the tee with soap and cold water. The tee will look super cute and your mom will love wearing it all day!

Signature plates

Get some cheap white plates and write heartfelt notes on the edges with a black Sharpie. Once you have jotted down all the things you heart about mom, place the plates in the oven and bake for 30 minutes in 150 degrees. The notes will be permanent and your mom will love reading them at the dinner table.

Mod Podge “MOM”

Cut cardboard into the letters M. O. M.. Pick your fave pics of the fam and print them in black and white. Mod podge the pics onto your cut out letters. Once you finish pasting them on, put mod podge on top too. It’ll make the letter look nice and glossy. Your mom can hang the thoughtful cut-outs in her room!

Lemonade scrub

Your mom will heart taking this scented scrub to the shower. To make, just add 2 cups of sugar, ¼ cup of almond or coconut oil, and a few drops of lemon oil to a bowl. Mix until the scrub appears nice and soft. Place the scrub in a cute, decorated jar. It’ll look like it took you hours, but really, it’s so easy!

52 Reasons Why

Take a deck of cards and punch a hole through the left corner of each one. Use a keychain ring to connect all of the cards together through the holes. On the front of the deck, write “52 reasons why I love you.” On the front of each card, write one reason and, on the back of that card, glue a pic down that relates to your reason. She’ll heart flipping through the deck over and over.

Mom’s newspaper

Write different articles about everything you heart about mom. Add in a column about her favorite qualities and some “breaking news” stories about her childhood. On the top of the page, write “The Mom Times” or “Mom Gazette.” Add in some pics and you’re good to go! This is super creative newspaper idea gives your mom a chance to see what you truly love about her.
