Watch this: Women rock the vote with this musical PSA

Rock ‘n’ roller Lesley Gore recorded her hit single “You Don’t Own Me” in 1964 when she was 17 years old. Then, it was a fiercely feminist song that defended the rights of women to be themselves, to be free. Now, it’s ringing the same bells it did half a century ago.

This time around, though, pop culture phenoms and girl power patriots Lena Dunham, Alexa Chung, Mae Whitman and Tavi Gevinson are joining forces with dozens of other girls and women to spread the word about women’s rights…and the freedoms we enjoy now that could be taken away should the Mitt Romney win the upcoming presidential election.
