We got Raven on the line to talk about her upcoming album (out April 29!), livin’ on a tour bus and her fave project—how-to videos!

GL: What can people expect from your new album?

Raven: It’s a party! Everything on there, you can dance to. I think there’s like one or two that are mid-tempo, but everything else is up and fun, talking about who I am, the things I’ve been through. There’s two relationship songs that I don’t like to talk about much, but I had to for this album. I’m pretty happy with it, and I’m hoping that it will connect with [listeners], and they’ll enjoy it.

GL: Do you have a favorite summer memory?

Raven: I was on tour with ’N Sync that was my favorite summer memory. Just being around them and performing, stuff like that.

GL: You have a big tour planned this summer, your Pajama Party tour. How do you feel about living on a tour bus?

Raven: It’s a double-edge sword. It’s fun because you’re with your friends and you’re chilling on the bus the whole time, but you get these small beds and you’re around people all the time. It’s good and bad, but at the same time it keeps everybody together and it keeps you connected so when you get on stage there’s more camaraderie.

GL: We checked out your official site, and we love your how-to videos!

Raven: Oh, thank you! I love my website.

GL: Where do you get your ideas?

Raven: At sleepovers. Even when I lived at my house in Atlanta with my parents, I’ve always been the type to put stuff together—watch craft shows and cook and all that kind of stuff. I’ve always been a crafty person, coming out to LA, that’s technically not the cool thing to do, but I was the one who aced art and I loved home ec. I loved it!

GL: What type of things do you do?

Raven: Some of the stuff that I do on the website is stuff that I’ve always wanted to learn how to do. I want to know how to make a furry pen, but sometimes it’s not about just making a furry pen, it is about doing something to further who your are, and open your mind to new things.
