Am I a late bloomer?
I was reading that you usually get your period around the same time your mom did. If that's true, I should have my period by now. I was wondering if that's normal not to get around the same time. Am I just a really late bloomer?
That is not necessarily true. The important thing to remember
when it comes to periods is that EVERY girl is different and develops at a
different rate. Some girls may get their periods around the same time their
mothers did, and some will get it earlier or later. It’s not unusual for girls
to get their first periods in their late teens. It’s really just up to Mother
Nature!
Comparing your body to your mother’s, your aunt’s or your
sister’s is silly when you think about it. When they mature earlier than you
do, these comparisons can make you think that there must be something wrong with your, since your not
following the schedule their
bodies set. But , babe, you’ve gotta remember: There is no normal when it comes
to puberty. A chat with your doctor can really help put your mind at ease…and
make sure there really isn’t
anything wrong with your bod.
