The healthy thing I'm thankful for
Back in the day, if I ran a speedy race or played hard enough there were pretty instant rewards: landing a spot as team captain, making a regional all-star team or getting a write-up in the local paper. It felt great and def kept me going.
These days, no one is handing me blue ribbons for my races (err, I’m not that fast) and I don’t have a coach threatening wind sprints if I don’t work hard enough. I’m sure lots of you are in the same boat. Think about it: every time you make a healthy decision (water over soda, hitting the weights before pre-season), you’re making the tougher choice and doing yourself a huge favor. You can’t plop the rewards in a scrapbook, but they’re plentiful.
Even though my sporty newspaper clippings have yellowed and my 1st place medals are covered in dust, I’m in better shape than when I hauled in those honors. Yep, a little sticktoitness goes a long way when it comes to your health. Here’s to feeling absolutely amazing during the holidays!
