Win Big! A Wii Party

Sick of the Halloween hullabaloo? We’ve got the perfect all season-friendly video game for you and the fam.

Our friends at Nintendo surprised us with an awesome Wii pizza party, complete with their latest Wii Party title, loaded with 13 different party game modes and over 80 minigames. Awesome, right?

After munching, laughing and duking it out with our buds, we’ve decided to compile a list of simple tricks you’ll want to use to carry out your own Wii Party bash.

Gather up invites. Whether it’s through Evite, text or Facebook, muster up a list of your closest buds and fam and spread the word about a week before your planned date. Once you’ve gotten the RSVPs, go onto your Wii and make special Miis for each planned attendee. They’ll get a laugh. The great thing about Wii Party? It will star all of you.

Score some décor. Immerse yourself in the Wii world by dressing the part. Have every guest wear their favorite solid-colored shirt a la the Nintendo Miis. For those feeling a li’l extra artistic, make Mii masks for everyone out of colored construction paper, some markers and popsicle sticks.

Practice beforehand. Wanna outshine everyone else? Get a few rounds in before they arrive. The “Pair Games” mode have one-player options, so you can practice games like “Match Up” (our fave) with the computer.

Clear the living room. That means push back the couch or coffee table (ask for the ’rents for permission first). The beauty of Wii Party is it takes gaming to another level, opening the use of the entire room with the “House Party” mode, complete with games like “Hide ‘n’ Hunt” where one player hides the Wii Remotes and others need to find them before time runs out.

Grab snacks. Some of the Wii Party games can sure wipe ya out, which is why it’s always smart to have some fuel on hand. For our party, we munched on some yummy Domino’s pizza. Hey, it’s cheap, quick and easy to clean up.

Have fun. Because, hello, that’s what the entire experience is all about. On a time crunch? Or maybe you want everyone to have an even amount of playing time (up to four players can play at once)? Point your Wii Remote at each game on the menu and it will tell you approximately how long one round will take. “Party Games” might last ya up to 45 minutes, while “Pair Games” and “House Party” modes can take anywhere from 5 to 15.

Be sure to check out Wii Party (available now) and then come back and dish about your favorite game.

WIN BIG! Wanna throw your own Wii Party bash? Nintendo’s hooking TWO gamer girls up with the same party they threw us, complete with a copy of the game, Mii masks, a Dominos gift card and more.
