Rock with Demi Lovato

Have you picked up our latest August/September issue yet? Camp Rock cutie Demi Lovato is lending her talents as the vocal coach for Disney Interactive’s upcoming karaoke style video game Disney Sing It: Party Hits (available Oct. 12). We caught up with the starlet while she was in L.A. for the game’s recording sesh and had her dish on the top tips every GL girl needs to have a fabulous karaoke night with her buds. Grab your besties and rock out one last time before school’s back in sesh. And don’t forget, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam premieres on Disney Channel this Friday, Sept. 3.

Embrace “The Stage”.
“Singing and performing for me is something that I love to do, so if people really love to sing, they should definitely just feel happy when they’re on stage.”

Practice makes perfect. “When I was younger, I would always try to hit high notes that I couldn’t do because they were too high for me. I would practice over and over. My mom has really funny stories of when I would constantly sing the exact same song in the house, rewind the CD over and over again [because I wouldn’t] hit the note. It would take weeks, and maybe even months to finally reach. Sometimes it takes years because your range changes. Just keep practicing.”

Ask Mom to join in on a song. “Aim for a song that she already knows, maybe one from her time. She would like that.”

Don’t be afraid to show your silly side.
“It’s always funny when you try and do rap songs.”

Pick the biggest hits to sing with your friends. “It’s always fun to sing things that are on the radio or things that you used to sing when you were a kid.”

Singing with your cutie? Choose a song catered to your crush’s personality.
“If he’s got a sense of humor, it’s always good to do a silly song with him. But if he’s a serious dude, you should try singing a romantic [one].”
