Get an amazing back-to-school haircut!

This year, step into the salon and walk out with a style you absolutely adore. Whether you wanna simply trim those dead ends (ugh, all that summer sun and swimming!) or go for a totally new ’do, we’ve got tips to ensure you’ll love those locks when you get outta the stylists chair.

Before Ya Get in the Chair
Flip through some magazines or surf around online to find some styles you’d like to try. Remember: The stylist isn’t a magician, so pass by pics of long, straight hair if you’ve got chin-length curls. Bring in a few ideas, just in case your fave won’t work with your texture.

Chat it Up
It’s super-important to talk with your stylist. Let her know how you usually wear your hair, how much effort you’re willing to put into your ’do and if you want a simple snip or a hair overhaul. There’s no sense in, say, cutting long bangs if you’re not gonna take the time to style them. Don’t be afraid to ask for her opinion, but speak up if anything she utters makes ya go “uh-oh!”

Don’t forget to be specific. Using vague terms like “take off the dead ends” or “just a trim” won’t help ya get what you really want.

Ask Questions
When your stylist uses products, don’t be afraid to ask what she’s putting in your locks. Knowing what she’s doing will help you recreate that just-stepped-outta-the-salon vibe on the first day—and for the rest of the school year. How gorgeous!
