5 teeny ways to make your vacay the best yet

Whether you’re RVing around a national park or staying in a cabin by the lake, summer getaways are golden. We’ve got teeny, tiny ways to make your vacay tons more enjoyable, even if you’re barely heading out of town or are going to the same destination for the millionth time. Woo hoo!

Be Super Craftastic
Sure, souvenirs are fun. But how many Dewey Beach hoodies does a girl need? This year, head to the local bead or craft store when you’re at your destination. Then, buy a few inexpensive items that you can whip up into jewelry when you get back home. Use the colors and textures around you as inspiration. Don’t have a craft store? Nab some of nature’s goodies (like rocks and shells) and decorate picture frames with them when you get back.

Not into DIY? Give yourself a mani based on your vacation. Think: Nails decked with watermelon slices, waves or skyscrapers. How chic.

Unplug
It’s tempting to text your BF all day or check in with your BFF for the millionth time. This trip, try to power down more. Spend some time chilling in the hammock, watch for falling stars and telling ghost stories by the campfire. Letting your mind wander and truly relaxing is one of the best parts of being away. When you get back, you’ll have tonsa OMG moments to share with your friends over icy lemonade. Until then, do the mysterious-chica thing, sign out of Facebook and brush up on the art of doing nothing.

Take Clever Vacay  Pics
Never take another boring snap again! This year, make it your mission to come home with a digi photo album for the ages. Borrow a photography book from the lib before you leave (or finally learn how to use all the cool features on your camera). Then, get clickin’. Or go old school and only take film pictures or use the computer program Polardroid (google it) to make your pics look ancient. When you get back? Collage town!

Have One Mini Mission
Whether you want to see the sunset over the ocean or score a hole-in-one on the mini golf course, it’s totally fun to set a mini mission for yourself. Style-savvy sisters may want to find the perf pair of sandals or more sporty girls can set a goal to hike a nearby hill. Do a little research before you leave, and then come up with a couple cool activities to check out while you’re gone. That way, you’ll totally eliminate the “what now?” aspect of your getaway (especially on those rainy days).

Practice Saying Yes
Not to anything dangerous (obvi), but keeping an open mind will make your vacay way more brilliant than boring. Dad wants to go fishing? Instead of rolling your eyes, tag along and see what you two can hook. Li’l sis insists you build another sand castle? Dig in! Truth is, life is way sunnier when you’re goin’ with the flow. Send us a post card, OK? Psst: We’re serious!
