Normally, we’re all about selecting colors that best compliment your skin tone, until we chatted up celeb makeup artist Christopher Drummond. His philosophy? If you use fab products ya heart, you’ll look amazing no matter what. Keep reading to spy how to be an oh-so gorgeous beauty rule-breaker.
Everything goes with the skin you’re in.
“I have a different philosophy about makeup,” Christopher tells us. “I don't believe that different skin colors should wear different colors of makeup. If you have a great makeup line that is made for everyone, then you can wear any color and still look amazing.”
Only pick hues you heart.
Sounds obvious, but it’s not always what girls do. “Makeup is about being comfortable with what you have on, so the most important thing is to wear colors you love,” Christopher says. “Who cares if someone says it's not ‘right for your tone’? The right color is the color that makes you feel beautiful.”
One rule that sticks? Don’t go overboard.
Avoid totally channeling the rainbow. “Wear colors in moderation,” he reminds us. “If you love green, use your favorite green shadow as an eyeliner, and not necessarily over the whole lid.”
