Get Competitive: Racquet Sports for Wii

Can’t get enough fun sports games for your Wii? Or do you just love tennis, badminton and ping-pong? Even though the weather is finally getting nice, we’ve got another fab excuse to keep ya indoors.

With Racquet Sports for the Wii by Ubisoft, you can play five racquet-using games with the much easier—and lighter—Wiimote (or even with bare hands using the new motion-tracking camera). We tried out the new camera and game and are eager to share our thoughts with our fave sporty sistahs…

Choose to battle it out in tennis, ping-pong, badminton, squash and beach tennis with up to three other players. Pick a pre-made character or create your own. Each time you win a challenge, you score new accessories and better equipment for your character—so keep on practicing that stellar swing!

There are six different play modes within the game, with matches at different cities around the world. And with places like NYC, Australia and Africa, you score a free mini-vacay without ever having to leave your house! Amazing, right? Unlock even more fabulous locations throughout the game, too.

Never picked up a racquet—or Wiimote for that matter—in your life? We suggest playing the training mode to get better at every sport and learn how to accurately aim the ball. Then switch to party mode and try to beat your friends at a game before the clock strikes zero.

So what’s, um, all the racquet about Nintendo’s new motion-tracking camera? It’s designed to pick up your every move without having to use a Wiimote. While the camera can only be used in one player mode, it’s a nice change of pace. Using it takes some to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, the game is very fun!

Tip: Swing your arms in the racquet motion a bit earlier than you normally would to hit the ball accurately.

Be sure to grab a copy of Racquet Sports for the Wii (in stores now) then let us know your thoughts.
